چکیده

For free Klein-Gordon fields, we construct a one-parameter family of conserved current densities J a , with a ∈ (−1, 1), and use the latter to yield a manifestly covariant expression for the most general positive-definite and Lorentz-invariant inner product on the space of solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation. Employing a recently developed method of constructing the Hilbert space and observables for Klein-Gordon fields, we then obtain the probability current density J μ a for the localization of a Klein-Gordon field in space. We show that in the nonrelativistic limit both J a and J μ a tend to the probability current density for the localization of a nonrelativistic free particle in space, but that unlike J a the current density J μ a is neither covariant nor conserved. Because the total probability may be obtained by integrating either of these two current densities over the whole space, the conservation of the total probability may be viewed as a consequence of the local conservation of J a . The latter is a manifestation of a previously unnoticed global gauge symmetry of the Klein-Gordon fields. The corresponding gauge group is U(1) if the parameter a is rational. It is the multiplicative group of positive real numbers if a is irrational. We also discuss an extension of our results to Klein-Gordon fields minimally coupled to an electromagnetic field. Quantum Mechanics of Klein-Gordon Fields I: Hilbert Space, Localized States, and Chiral Symmetry

We derive an explicit manifestly covariant expression for the most general positivedefinite and Lorentz-invariant inner product on the space of solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation. This expression involves a one-parameter family of conserved current densities J μ a , with a ∈ (−1, 1), that are analogous to the chiral current density for spin half fields. The conservation of J a is related to...

A new scheme for the Klein-Gordon and Dirac fields on the lattice with axial anomaly

Using the method of finite differences a scheme is proposed to solve exactly the Klein-Gordon and Dirac free field equations, in a (1 + 1)-dimensional lattice. The hamiltonian of the Dirac field is translational invariant, hermitian, avoids fermion doubling, and, for the massless case, preserves global chiral symmetry. Coupling the fermion field to the electromagnetic vector potential we constr...

Covariant Approach of the Dynamics of Particles in External Gauge Fields, Killing Tensors and Quantum Gravitational Anomalies

We give an overview of the first integrals of motion of particles in the presence of external gauge fields in a covariant Hamiltonian approach. The special role of Stäckel–Killing and Killing–Yano tensors is pointed out. Some nontrivial examples involving Runge–Lenz type conserved quantities are explicitly worked out. A condition of the electromagnetic field to maintain the hidden symmetry of t...

Current-Field Equations Including Charge Creation-Annihilation Fields and Derivation of Klein-Gordon and Schrödinger Equations and Gauge Transformation

We found new current-field equations including charge creation-annihilation fields. Although it is difficult to treat creation and annihilation of charge pairs for Maxwell’s equations, the new equations easily treat them. The equations cause the confinement of charge creation and annihilation centers, which means the charge conservation for this model. The equations can treat not only electroma...

Analytical solutions for the fractional Klein-Gordon equation

In this paper, we solve a inhomogeneous fractional Klein-Gordon equation by the method of separating variables. We apply the method for three boundary conditions, contain Dirichlet, Neumann, and Robin boundary conditions, and solve some examples to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.
